Hazardous Chemicals & Risk Management

COURSE OVERVIEW:
Chemicals are an integral part of our life and play a substantial role in economic growth and human well-being but improper management of hazardous chemicals are potentially dangerous and pose a serious threat to health and economic development. Hazardous chemicals in air, water, food, consumer products and occupational environment cause the range of disease including cancers, fetal malformations, endocrine, cardiovascular, neurodevelopment and immune disorders. A safe and sound management of hazardous chemicals during manufacturing, handling, transportation, and storage will support the attainment of sustainable environment as well as also provide the healthy life style to the industrial workforce. This two days training session addresses various topics on hazardous chemicals, theory of hazards, fire & health hazards, classifications, hazards identification, hazards warnings, color coding, risk assessment and management, safety data sheet, best handling practices, international regulations and standards through hands-on activities accompanied with case studies, presentations and discussion and at the end participants will leave the class with a strong understanding of advance concepts of hazardous chemicals management and be able to plan and respond to incidents in own organization upon return to their respective facility.
TRAINING CONTENTS:

  • Hazardous chemicals concepts, classifications, forms, categories and far-reaching health, environmental and physiochemical effects of hazardous chemicals and magnitudes (OSHA, NIOSH).
  • Hazardous Chemicals chemistry, CAS and CASRN, physical states, characteristics, routes of exposure of hazardous chemicals and hazards communication 1910-1200 standards.
  • Critical parameters, flash point, boiling point, fire point, auto ignition temperature, SML, PEL, REL,STEL, IDLH, evaporation point, acute toxins and chronic toxins of hazardous chemicals including objective of MSDS and SDS for hazardous Chemicals with important sections.
  • The hazardous chemical identification and effects on health, environment, like heptotoxins, nephrotoxins, neurotoxins, reproductive toxins, cutaneous effects, and eye hazards, route of exposure, category of exposure.
  • Chemical Safety, synergism and matter of hazards zones, safety pre-cautions and equipment used for hazardous identification, PPE and hazardous chemicals safe handling best practices.
  • Hazardous chemicals risk factors, risk assessment process, levels of risk, physiochemical risk & actions plan and risk management and control measures to minimize risk at workplace.
  • Depth understanding to guidelines for ordering, preparing, color coding, hazardous signs use for hazardous substances.
